(C) Job Requirement Model

My Skills

Management, Project management and Supervisory Experience

Management, Project management and Supervisory Experience

1. Analyzing procedures, coordination work flow, and setting priorities as a manager, project manager, or project leader

1. In different roles; as  IMS/Master Terminal Operator, Application Subsystem Analyst Project Lead, Software Engineer, Acting Supervisor and as Computer Lead Operator, analyzing procedures, coordination of work flow, and setting priorities came with performing the job. In our information processing activities all processing was based on cyclical scheduling, by bill period or business workday. Most processing functions were interdependent and sequential. It was very important to be very alert, careful, meticulous and knowledgeable. A incorrect bill period entry, wrong date or a batch job running out of sequence could cost many batch job re-runs and lost processing time.

2. Assisting a computer analyst programmer or telecommunications coordinator in planning, developing, implementing or improving and information-processing program.

2. I assisted telecommunications coordinator in streamlining PROPRINT (Special U S West Production Processing Instructions). Authored new procedures for implementation. This process was handled via EMAIL vs. Fax. It enabled the client to archive and track PROPRINTS electronically and helped prevent duplication of effort. It also encouraged greater Programmer Analyst accountability, in providing job processing requirements.

I also developed a printer update request script for PROFS EMAIL via its Mini-form facility, to better accommodate better FICUS (U S WEST Financial Information Customer User System) printer table update processing flow. This form assisted SYAD (U S WEST Systems Administration Group) in extracting the appropriate information from the client requesting the printer revision. This process helped eliminate communication barriers in providing Analysts with the essential information to handle the printer revision requests, more efficiently.

3. Preparing cost analysis for information processing equipment budget or acquisition

4. Gathering and analyzing statistical data and writing reports.

3 and 4. In my role as Application Subsystem Analyst in the U S WEST TIRKS (Trunk Integrated Record Keeping System) environment I compiled mainframe usage cost, for the following;

  • Direct access storage devices

  • Tape mounts

  • Central Processing Unit time

  • Analyst labor

These charges were provided by separate production processing application, financial codes. The purpose of this cost analysis was to assure my boss and our clients,  that charges were correct and to track money spent on each separate application information process. This cost analysis was supplied in the form of LOTUS spread sheets and were distributed to my boss, 2nd and 3rd level management clients

5. Conducting studies and analyses regarding varied complex management problems.

5. Via my studies at the University of Washington, our last project dealt with complex management problems of installing a new LAN, for a company that had varied equipment and information processing needs. Our goal was to provide this company with the best solution and the best approach to its LAN requirements and needs, with a limited budget.

6. Supervising or leading others( include number of persons supervised)

6. During my tenure at U S West I have held a few in-charge supervisory temporary positions, tape Unit Supervisor (5 people), Concurrent Peripheral Operations Supervisor (7 people), and Information Operations Control Supervisor (4 people). I have held several lead positions and they are as follows;

  • Lead Operator on an earlier SIGMA processor (1975).

  • Lead Data Processing Operator for an early Computing System titled Concurrent Peripheral Operations (1978).

  • Lead IMS/Master Terminal Operator. Supporting several IBM IMS/ Systems concurrently and their production applications (1984).
